THE PARENTS

Amberwood Academy maintains a family/parents-oriented philosophy that is a fundamental part of the preschool program. Our communication is facilitated by posting bulletin boards of the monthly news, social media, and parents can reach us by email or text message. We encourage our parents or guardians to participate in children’s activities both at the center and at special events. Every year, the parents have the opportunity to get involved in events such as the Holiday show, Graduation ceremony, Thanksgiving play and more!

PHILOSOPHY

  • We have always acknowledged and respected the uniqueness of each child. From the first moment of separation and early experiences in the world outside home, we attempt to provide a secure child-centered “second home” to foster self-confidence and self-esteem.

  • We offer a warm and nurturing environment with educational programs designed to meet the developmental needs of the child as a whole, planning around indoor and outdoor interest areas and defining logical goals and objectives to help all children grow and develop.
  • We offer the opportunity of playing, which facilitates developing abilities for problem solving, social interaction and communication, at the same time as cognitive development and motor coordination.

  • We provide children with hands-on activities that influence their evolutionary development, through the interaction with specific materials, other children and under the guidance of the teacher.

  • We see each child as an individual to enhance his/her sense of self worth and we make sure every day that our school provides every child with different opportunities to experiment a wide variety of educational tools in order to nurture growth in each of the areas of development.

ACADEMIC PROFILE

Amberwood Academy is dedicated to providing quality academic experiences for Toddlers, Preschoolers, Kindergarteners, First and Second graders while helping children develop valuable social and life skills.

Our teachers use an Educational Curriculum for a child directed and teacher supported learning environment. The fundamental premise of this curriculum is that children are active learners, who learn best from pursuing their own interests while being active. An open line of communication between the parents and the child’s teacher is the key to success.

We believe that children learn best through learning experiences, also we provide each child with time to play and explore both alone and with others. We believe that an environment rich in materials and opportunities to explore, practice new skills and socialize with others will help each child grow and learn to their best potential.

We schedule a number of visitors from the community and special programs for enrichment.

Visitors may include the Fire Department, Dentists, Police Departments, and more.
